Peter Becker, Honorary President of the German Paint and Printing Association

For more than 10 years, Peter Becker had been President of the German Paint and Printing Association
(Verband der deutschen Lack- und Druckfarbenindustrie, VdL) and has been considered

an outstanding expert for paint and varnish in Europe for several decades.
During this time, Becker directed the reorganization of the association, which now also includes

the printing ink industry.

The paint industry association is a member of the chemical industry association
(Verband der Chemischen Industrie, VCI).

As a result, Becker is also very well connected within the chemical industry.

Peter Becker emphasizes his commitment to further develop the vision of intelligent varnish. For example varnish that can produce electricity from sunlight or varnish on vehicles with alerting properties in bad weather conditions. Antibacterial or self-cleaning varnish is being developed in German scientific laboratories. According to Becker, the varnish industry, especially in Germany, has very good potential of enhancing its own growing demand with intelligent products.

Peter Becker had been owner and managing director of the W.L. Schwaab Lackfabriken GmbH, which he sold to the American company PPG industries.

Today, within the German association (VdL) and the European Paint Association (CEPE), he especially supports the process of systematically developing international markets with products “made in Germany” and seeing globalization as an opportunity.

Peter Becker is a sought advisor for innovations concerning varnish, paint and coatings.
